Becoming SESERIAN
Hello again,
So what happened after receiving the offer letter?
We were asked to print out the list that told us the things we had to buy, e.g. toiletries, school uniforms (baju kurung only), PVC shoes, 3 sets of baju kurung for prep class and dinner, different types of SESERI official t-shirts, baju kurung for outing, bedsheet and blanket and the list goes on...
After the registration and welcome speech by the principal, we got to know the house, class and dorm we were assigned to. And yeah, I was assigned to rumah Brassidium, the green house and got Brassidium 1 as my dorm for the next two years in SESERI!
Double-decker beds, rather old mattresses, lockers, shared bathroom, toilets, and kitchenette were the features of the hostel life here. What made life more interesting here? Rules. Rules were everywhere, penetrating every corner of the school compound. No phones, MP3, Maggi Mee, and no slippers when entering the dining hall. Curfew at 11pm, use of laptop was disallowed after that, clothes must be collected from the Ampaian before 5pm and at 6.30pm sharp, we all had to enter the dining hall. What's more absurd was we were not allowed to use the public phones after 6pm or 10.50pm. It's a rather non-sensical rule in my opinion.
It felt like a hectic schedule had been imprinted on us the moment we became a student of SESERI. No moments of procrastination were allowed and everything had to be fast and even faster.
